EU Customer Conference 2023
This year was our first official Customer Conference in the EU, held from the 26th – 28th June in the home of the Beatles, Liverpool, UK.
We welcomed attendees from various countries and industries, with a combined responsibility for over 50,000 vehicles in the room!

Industry Insights
We gathered experts from the fleet industry to provide unique insights into the future of fleet management.
These thought-leadership sessions were incorporated to help customers develop their fleet strategy, enabling them to plan for tomorrow by knowing how to adapt and evolve with the latest technologies, legal requirements and regulations.
Lightfoot: Challenges with E-Van Deployment & how Driver Based Telematics forms an important role to support electrification of fleets.
We hosted an industry speaker session by Paul Hollick, Managing Director of Lightfoot, a key partner to Chevin and Chairman of the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP). Paul is a recognised industry figure, panelist and presenter at various domestic and international conferences. Paul is widely regarded as an expert in Maas/Big data solutions, electric vehicle deployment and managing businesses to reach the peak of their potential.
Paul’s session focused on why driver behaviour management is important for fleets, and the benefits for both fleets and drivers, as well as strategies to improve driver engagement to improve productivity.
National Grid: Fleet Journey to Zero Carbon Transport
We also had a session hosted by Lorna McAtear, Fleet Manager at National Grid and board member of the AFP. Lorna has worked at several major organisations and led on several electric vehicle related projects including Optimise Prime. She is also the winner of the Barbara Cox – Woman of the Year 2021 and GreenFleet’s Outstanding Achievement award 2022.
Her session shared insights into her journey to sustainability at National Grid and provided insights and advice on how our attendees could themselves work towards the NetZero by 2023 goal. Following their sessions Paul and Lorna joined forces to host an industry panel, and opened up for questions on anything regarding fleet electrification and sustainability.
OCS: Managing the Fleet Eco-System: Data Led Decision Making
Neale Copeland, Head of Fleet, OCS Group led our customer speaker slot. OCS have been using FleetWave since 2016 to manage over 2,700 vehicles and associated assets. OCS is an international facilities management company that provides services for security, cleaning, catering, horticulture, hygiene, engineering, pest, and waste control. Neale’s session focused on managing the fleet eco-system and data led decision making using FleetWave.
I first engaged with Chevin in 2016, when we started talking about how I move from a bunch of spreadsheets and random information to a system led, data fed way of managing my fleet. My bosses were worried about compliance, well now we have a compliance dashboard and the reds get actioned, the amber ones get reviewed and the green ones are happy days. So I think that’s the real advantage, it locks down the information and your data becomes consistent because it’s going through sets of rules.

Ask the Expert
This year we held our first in person ‘Ask the Expert’ sessions. These 30 minute 1-1 sessions were designed to help customers navigate and optimise our FleetWave platform and provide advice on reporting and customisation as well as making live changes to their systems.
We had an Ask the Expert session, and there’s a part of this software that we can utilize that is going to save at least five man hours a week. Now, if you base that over a year, that’s going to be a big saving. So even just that little half an hour session is really helpful.

Networking
We kicked off the conference with a welcome evening which consisted of a buffet and networking at The Malmaison. Customers were provided with their name tags and directed to our event app which featured the conference agenda, venue information, staff bios, session details and attendee details to enable networking.
On Day 2 we had dinner at Ginos Italian Restaurant, before heading up to the 360 Sky Bar to take in unrivalled views of the city’s skyline and watch the sun go down. We then headed to Liverpool’s iconic Cavern Club for some live music.
I would recommend it for everybody, it’s a great place to meet other customers that are using the same solution and you can have discussions on how they are solving their issues and dealing with daily challenges. It doesn’t matter that we are in the emergency business and if someone else is in other type of business, we have similarities and we can share experiences on how we can overcome that.

Sustainable Welcome Packs
As an organisation we believe that creating a more sustainable world is essential for future generations to thrive and will continue to carry out environmentally responsible business practices.
We have implemented multiple environmental initiatives in recent years such as planting trees for customers, going digital with our brochures and becoming a carbon neutral organisation!
Our conference welcome packs provided our customers with both purposeful and sustainable items to be used during the event. In partnership with BambuuBrush we provided reusable water bottles, biodegradable toothbrushes and climate neutral dentatabs along with a plantable notebook and wheat straw pen!
Customer Feedback
The conference received a 4.5/5-star overall rating in its first year, from attendees responsible for some of the biggest fleets in the EU across all industries!
The conference has been fun. I was able to talk to colleagues from other industries. They are in areas similar to us, in terms of fleet management, but they have different challenges. It’s important to see how the similarities happen, and how they can deal with different operational problems, and how we can succeed with best practices.
