Background
Beacon Mobility is a leading provider of transportation solutions across the United States, specializing in student transportation, non-emergency medical transport, and special needs services. Operating 27 companies across 25 states, Beacon Mobility focuses on safety, reliability, and customer care, with a diverse fleet that meets the unique mobility needs of communities. The company is committed to improving accessibility while maintaining a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
Fredery Martinez, Head Fleet Technician Trainer, shared his insights on how our FleetWave software has transformed their fleet management processes, particularly in the realm of fleet maintenance.
Challenges
Before implementing FleetWave, Beacon Mobility faced significant challenges regarding fleet data accuracy and visibility. Fredery explained, “We didn’t have accuracy with technicians because everything was on paper. We didn’t know what vehicles mechanics were working on until a week or even a month later, when the data was finally imported into an excel file.” This lack of real-time information severely hindered their ability to manage operations efficiently and respond promptly to issues.
Our Solution
In 2022, Beacon Mobility adopted our FleetWave system, rolling it out to over 800 users, including more than 500 technicians who now use the FleetWave Technician App. This digital transformation provided real-time data and improved visibility across the fleet. Fredery highlights the immediate impact: “Now we’re able to see live data – live technicians working – everything’s visible today.”
Impact
When asked about the primary benefit of FleetWave, Fredery emphasized the value of real-time information: “Everything is live data. The managers at the shop can actually see live and accurate data coming from the technicians.”
Initially, some technicians were hesitant to transition from manual methods to a digital platform. However, Fredery noted that once the system was introduced, the response was overwhelmingly positive: “I haven’t had any pushbacks. Once they got it, the adaptation has been great.”
He also highlighted the flexibility of the FleetWave Technician App: “We can give a technician a tablet, and they can handle everything through the Technician App. For instance, when doing a preventative maintenance service, they can build and follow a custom checksheet based on the vehicle and service type.”
Beacon Mobility’s FMIS Trainer also praised our FleetWave Technician App, stating: “It’s increased our efficiency in the shop from paperwork orders to whiteboards on the wall to using Technician in a tablet and keeping the technician at the vehicle rather than running all over the shop and filling out a paper check sheet on a clipboard. So it’s increased efficiency 10 to 20% at least.”
He also noted, “The primary benefit that I would see from FleetWave is having one source of truth; everything feeds into it, and everything feeds out of it.”
Conclusion
Fredery concluded, “I would recommend Chevin, it’s a great system, I actually love it.” Another FMIS Trainer further elaborated, “I would recommend Chevin because of the configurability and customization. There’s the out-of-the-box product, but we’re able to configure it to meet our specific business needs. You can take FleetWave and use it to your advantage and tweak it to fit your business needs.”
The successful implementation of FleetWave has also earned recognition for Beacon Mobility, as evidenced by their receipt of the ‘Vendor Partner Award’ at the Leadership Summit 2023. This accolade underscores the significant impact that FleetWave has had on their operations and the value of their partnership with Chevin.
Overall, Beacon Mobility’s experience with FleetWave illustrates the critical role that digital solutions play in enhancing fleet management, driving operational efficiency, and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
