Triumphant Trek: Chevin Conquers Snowdon Summit!

Last weekend some of our Chevin team took a trip to Wales to hike to the summit of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, at an elevation of 1,085 metres above sea level!

On Friday afternoon we set off from our UK HQ and headed west into Wales. We arrived at the old market town of Conwy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and checked into our accommodation for the weekend, the youth hostel YHA Conwy, which featured picturesque views of Conwy castle and the River Conwy.

We then walked down into town for dinner at a local tapas restaurant before getting some rest ahead of our big day!

We set our alarms bright and early and set off from the hostel at 6:30am to reach Snowdonia before parking chaos ensured.

We set off on our hike around 8am following the Miners Track, which started with a gradual stroll along the shores of Llyn Teyrn, Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn before ascending steeply to meet the Llanberis Path to the summit.

We stopped at the top to celebrate, take in the views and enjoy our lunch before starting the descent back down the miners track. The route took us 6 and a half hours in total, and we covered over 17km!

That evening we took on another walk into Conwy town and treated ourselves to some wood fired pizzas and of course some celebratory drinks.

It was an amazing weekend walking up Snowdon. It was something I always wanted to do, and when it was suggested as a team building weekend I jumped at the chance. The way the mixture of fitness’s and abilities all grouped together was a great example of what a cohesive and inclusive company we work for. It was tough getting to the top, but we all did it together and had a great couple of nights out too! Can’t wait until next year!
