Chevin continues Fijian Village connection with Sustainable Supply Donation

Last month, I found myself back in Nakalavo Village, Fiji. It was a return to a place that had left an incredible mark on my heart, filled with memories of volunteering with Think Pacific.

A year ago, I immersed myself in the vibrant community of Nakalavo, living among its families and engaging in meaningful work. Days were filled with educational workshops tailored for the young adults aged 18 to 30, whilst evenings were spent soaking in the rich Fijian culture.

This January, fueled by the bonds forged during my previous visit, I eagerly returned to Nakalavo. The village embraced me as family, a testament to the connections we had previously formed, Nakalavo truly feels like a home from home.

Following the donations made during my last visit, Chevin kindly contributed to some more sustainable supplies to support the community which included:

  • Biodegradable Pens: A step towards reducing plastic waste.
  • Bamboo Toothbrushes: Offering a sustainable solution for daily hygiene.
  • Denttabs: Innovatively designed, these toothpaste tablets minimize packaging waste while promoting dental health.
  • Eco-Friendly Notebooks: Crafted from recycled materials, these notebooks symbolize our dedication to preserving the environment.

Additionally, vital resources were provided to support education and healthcare within the community. A comprehensive First Aid Kit ensures prompt and hygienic care in times of need, while school bags filled with essential supplies empower the youth to pursue their educational aspirations.

From writing and coloured pens to pencils and calculators, these tools serve as catalysts for learning and growth. Together, these contributions represent not just material aid, but a commitment empowering those within Nakalavo Village.

As I departed Nakalavo once more, my heart overflowed with gratitude for the opportunity to return, and to be welcomed so openly. Until next time Nakalavo!
