Chevin launches new sustainability scheme 'Trees for Fleets'

Chevin has been a part of the fleet industry for over 30 years now, and in that time, we have stood witness to remarkable evolutions, and in recent years a resounding call for environmental consciousness has echoed across the industry, promoting introspection and change.

As an industry we must confront the reality that transportation contributes to a staggering fifth of global CO2 emissions, and within this, road vehicles shoulder the weight of responsibility, accounting for three-quarters of these emissions.

So, that’s why we have partnered up with MoreTrees to launch our new scheme ‘Trees for Fleets’. MoreTrees work with tree planting partners across the world who work with local communities to restore healthy forests and reduce extreme poverty. Planting trees helps sequester CO2 emissions while providing co-benefits such as water filtration, shelter, food sources, poverty alleviation and biodiversity.

Going forwards we will be planting between 10-50 trees for all new FleetWave users. We will plant 10 trees for all new clients, and if their fleet size is larger than 1,000 vehicles, we will plant 50 trees. Additionally, we will also plant a tree each year they remain a client.

By planting these trees under our clients’ names, we are contributing to the reduction of their Scope 1 emissions. So, investing in FleetWave not only empowers users to better manage their fleets, but also actively contributes to the mitigation of emissions stemming from the broader fleet industry.

With over 30 years in the fleet industry, Chevin continues to innovate and embrace change. Our industry’s undeniable contribution to global CO2 emissions, particularly road vehicles, mandates action. Our new initiative demonstrates our continued commitment to drive a sustainable future that nurtures both businesses and the planet.

A single tree has the capacity to counterbalance approximately 0.3 tonnes of CO2, which is the equivalent of 732 miles in a standard car. To date, we have planted 554 trees, with 461 of those trees dedicated to our valued clients. This is set to sequester around 166 tonnes of CO2, the equivalent of 36,500 miles of car travel.
