We have been attending global trade shows for 30 years now, and in that time we have seen a variety of developments.
As part of our ongoing CSR campaign we are always looking for innovative ways to reduce our carbon footprint and do our bit for the planet. And this year we haven’t just gone digital with our brochures, but also our event giveaways!
Promotional products have long been a tried and tested marketing approach, making up a £17.7 billion market in the US and over £1 billion in the UK! However, as an industry with a large plastic consumption rate, their environmental impact has been highlighted over recent years.
Promotional giveaways are often single use and made from plastic or other materials that have a high production impact, and will then likely sit in landfill for hundreds of years. So, although promotional giveaways are still relatively widespread in the event industry, we have decided to provide prospects with more value, alongside a lessened environmental impact by providing digital content.
We will be replacing our event giveaways with digital content in the form of brochures and fact sheets accessible via QR codes on our stand. As well as the ability to schedule a free product demo with our sales team on site, and the chance to win prizes after engaging with our stand.
We recommend giving serious consideration to the end of life impact of your promotional items. Examine what the main culprits are, and how their overall impact can be lessened to help reduce the environmental impacts of marketing strategies.
