The Chevin Customer Conference is the ultimate training and networking event for FleetWave users. We’re thrilled to announce that Biffa will be presenting a session at our EU Customer Conference 2024 in Birmingham, UK next month!

Biffa, headquartered in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and established in 1912, is the UK’s leading sustainable waste management company. It  provides collection, landfill, recycling, and specialist waste services to local authorities, industrial clients, small to medium enterprises and  major corporate  clients throughout the UK. Biffa has been utilising FleetWave for over 16 years, since 2008 to manage over 5,000 vehicles and assets.

Our exclusive conference offers attendees access to a wealth of educational content, personalised training workshops, 1-on-1 tech sessions, and bespoke breakout sessions featuring industry experts, like Biffa. Its session, titled “Our Journey to SaaS’ will explore Biffa’s reasons for moving to our SaaS product as well as some of the challenges and costs associated with using older technologies.

Biffa’s current workshop system started with a bespoke solution from Chevin in the mid 2000’s. It was a huge advancement on a paper-based process and was focused on workshop job cards plus the compliance requirements of operating a large and diverse LGV fleet and plant.  The future for their workshops is focused on an ‘out of the box’ solution, where this time around it’s for internal fleet team reviews and changes its processes to align with a replacement fleet management system. The change process goal was to find a highly advanced solution, with the opportunity to add on more efficient features as they are developed in the future. The internal LGV workshops are embarking on their next journey of continuous improvements using a SaaS model for fleet management.

Speaker

Ian Nash

Project Manager

Ian has worked in the waste and recycling industry for over 25 years. His early experiences are from the haulage, storage and recycling of a wide range of materials. All these processes required efficient and reliable road transportation throughout the product life cycle.  His work interests are to increase the company’s opportunities from the digitisation of systems and adding value by analysing the data captured. One of his eternal goals is to keep it simple for system users and where financially viable, to auto capture data from other digital machines/processes.

Early 2000’s , he implemented InCab technology to digitise and fully integrate work orders between the coany’s back-office solutions and driver, for the collection and storage of waste and recycling products. This also created a benefit of real-time interaction with customers.

A recent InCab project was a technology refresh and software upgrade. This time it included the digitisation of the company’s Hazardous Waste Fleet, in a cradle to grave process of the material. The Environment Agency was a key external project stakeholder for digitising legislative requirements for the movement of hazardous materials.

Today, Ian is focused on the refreshment of the company’s inhouse workshop maintenance system, including integration with the company’s current and future software solutions, as well as including value added integrations with external workshop partners.
