But how do\u00a0they make sense of that data?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chevinfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/telemarics.jpg\" alt=\"vehicle telematics\" width=\"3594\" height=\"1621\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Telematics is arguably the biggest buzzword in the fleet industry at the moment. It provides information that can help fleets:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"fa fa-caret-right\"><\/i>Track vehicle location<\/li>\n<li>Monitor diagnostics (warning lights, fault codes etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Oversee driver behavior<\/li>\n<li>Track fuel usage and efficiency<\/li>\n<li>Plan routes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fleet managers with access to this data are sitting on a goldmine of information about their vehicles\u2019 performance and usage. But how many people really understand what the data means or what can be done with it?<\/p>\n<p>Even high quality information will quickly lose value if fleet managers have to work extra hard to understand it. The point we\u2019re making is that telematics is fantastic but it\u2019s only by placing the data in context that fleet managers can really start to see the bigger picture.<\/p>\n<p>For example, telematics may alert you to fault codes on company vehicles, but what do you do with this information? If the information generated never leaves the telematics software is it providing actionable information on defects or is it just raw data?<\/p>\n<p>A good way of making better use of telematics is to combine the data with a fleet and maintenance management system.
