Fleet management software provider Chevin Fleet Solutions says the traditional implementation-led approach to fleet technology is becoming outdated, with fleets increasingly needing systems that continue to deliver value as their operational requirements change.<\/p>\n

With fleets operating across multiple locations, departments and vehicle types, managers are being asked to make faster decisions while maintaining accurate records, responding to changing compliance requirements and keeping vehicles on the road.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n

Chevin believes this is changing the role of fleet management technology. Rather than being viewed simply as a system that is selected and implemented, fleet software increasingly needs to provide an ongoing operational framework that helps teams maintain visibility, respond to change and continually improve the way their systems support the operation.<\/p>\n

“Fleet operations are constantly changing, which means maintaining control is an ongoing process,<\/em>” says Richard Clark, Global Head of Product at Chevin Fleet Solutions.<\/p>\n

“What was important when a system was first implemented may be very different a year or two later. Fleets, regulations and operational priorities evolve, so the way the technology is used needs to evolve with them if organizations are to continue getting maximum value from their investment.<\/em><\/p>\n

“New compliance requirements, changes to the fleet, maintenance priorities and increasing reporting demands all create additional pressure. Fleet teams need accurate information and the ability to act on it quickly if they are going to remain in control.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Chevin’s FleetWave\u00ae platform brings fleet information together within a single system, supporting areas including compliance, maintenance, reporting and operational performance. Centralized fleet data, role-based information and reporting can help different teams see the information relevant to their responsibilities, while alerts and reminders can highlight issues requiring action.<\/p>\n

However, Chevin argues that technology alone does not provide the complete answer.<\/p>\n

According to the company, effective fleet management also depends on understanding how individual customers operate and ensuring their systems continue to support changing operational requirements. Chevin therefore sees the expertise of its people and its ongoing relationships with customers as an important part of delivering long-term value.<\/p>\n

“Technology gives fleet teams the tools to manage their operations, but there still needs to be a clear understanding of how those tools are applied to real-world fleet challenges,”<\/em> adds Richard.<\/p>\n

“Every fleet operates differently. Our role is not simply to provide software, but to work with customers, understand what they are trying to achieve and help ensure the platform continues to support them as their operations evolve. That combination of technology, fleet expertise and an ongoing partnership is where we believe significant value can be created.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The company says this approach is particularly relevant at a time when much of the technology debate is focused on automation and artificial intelligence. While these technologies are providing further opportunities to improve efficiency and decision-making, Chevin believes they should complement rather than replace the expertise required to understand individual fleet operations.<\/p>\n

FleetWave is designed to give fleet teams the visibility and flexibility to proactively identify issues, respond to change and improve processes over time, with configurable and self-service capabilities allowing teams to adapt reporting, workflows and operational processes as requirements change.<\/p>\n
