The majority support emergency response, including nearly 100 ambulances and a large sheriff\u2019s fleet, while the remainder serve administrative and operational needs across a county experiencing fast population growth.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Fleet Operations, Tom Kuryla, has spent more than 20 years with the County and has used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chevinfleet.com\/en-us\/products\/fleetwave\/\">FleetWave<\/a> since 2018. Tom explains: <em>\u201cWe wanted to increase our data transparency, be able to increase the amount of reporting and add integrations and automations so that our efficiencies could be increased.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>These gaps pushed Wake County to find a platform capable of delivering stronger insights, better connectivity, and greater flexibility as Tom explains: <em>\u201cWith FleetWave we&#8217;ve been able to accomplish 10x what we expected with over 10 different integrations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>One of the most time\u2011consuming tasks was the twice\u2011yearly vehicle replacement analysis, which used to take more than a week of manual calculations and complex formulas to evaluate each vehicle and forecast when they&#8217;re going to need replacing.<\/p>\n<p>After implementing FleetWave, the Wake County team identified \u00a0this entire method could be replicated in the system. Tom explained: <em>\u201cWe went through a development process to realize that all these formulas could be replicated in FleetWave. So now, twice a year, I just hit a button and it displays everything I was doing before that took weeks.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Communication between the Fleet Operations and the Risk Department teams was also a major challenge. Tom highlights the improvement: <em>\u201cWe built a risk module in FleetWave so both teams could access the database to store vehicle pictures, files, estimates and things like that.\u201d <\/em>This consolidated area removes communication bottlenecks and ensures both teams work from the same up\u2011to\u2011date information.<\/p>\n<p>Compliance presented another hurdle. With nearly 100 ambulances in constant operation, preventive maintenance (PM) had to be completed on time to ensure safety and readiness. However, the County regularly fell behind schedule, with PMs often overdue. This created potential operational risks and raised questions about whether additional shops, shifts, or expanded fleet resources might be required, potentially at substantial cost.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Our Impact<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>With FleetWave, Wake County gained the clarity and control needed to manage rapid growth while keeping costs down. Tom explains:<em> \u201cBeing in the Government industry, your goals are always to save money. Our County is growing at a high pace, and we must manage that growth in the cost. <\/em><em>I&#8217;ve used FleetWave to build a vehicle equivalency unit, where we automatically know what kind of impact new vehicles added to our fleet have on our staff.
