Fleet Size: 2,500 Previous System: Manual Process Product: FleetWave 1.0
Before the implementation of FleetWave, it was often impossible to make informed fact-based decisions. There was a distinct lack of visibility over all of the individual elements which make up a fleets program, the Smithsonian?s Facility based systems weren?t built for that purpose and our stand-alone spreadsheets just couldn?t meet our needs as an organization. Post-implementation, it?s a different story altogether as we?ve clearly achieved a recognizable return on our investment in migrating to FleetWave. We now have complete control over all costs and a much better understanding of our operational efficiencies, this was impossible without FleetWave.
Fleet Manager
The Smithsonian Institution's Fleet Management Operations is responsible for the effective and efficient design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Smithsonian's infrastructure including the maintenance of all fleet related equipment.
With a fleet of more than 2,500 units spread across Washington DC as well as around the world, the Smithsonian's fleet management approach was not suitable for the size and complexity of the operations. Using a combination of spreadsheets and the Institution?s inflexible Facilities and Property management systems, fleet management had little visibility over scheduling essential maintenance work, fleet utilization, lifecycle costs or the cost of fuel.
