FleetWave has provided us with a very stable, reliable and transparent platform on which to develop our business services to 41 operating companies across the UK and Ireland.
Saint-Gobain established its first major base in the UK in 1985, when it acquired Stanton plc from British Steel.
Today, Saint Gobain has over 40 subsidiary businesses in the UK & Ireland, involved in a range of manufacturing and distribution activities. One such subsidiary is Jewson.
Together, these companies employ around 18,500 people and have total annual sales of over £2.5 billion.
Saint Gobain was looking to manage cars, trucks and MHE across all its business units, as well as procurement for company cars.
Key drivers for change included, an identified need to:
Interface with other business information systems such as PeopleSoft.
Operate in an e-Commerce environment (not just communicate with it), eg. web-based capability.
Have multi-currency and multi-language capability.
Have power-cube reporting capabilities giving summary management information that can be drilled-down to lower levels.
Have the ability to link into telematic systems and smart chips (tyre wear, odometer readings, service schedules, etc.)
Have a large capability to handle personnel data including training, usage profiles, authority to operate, risk assessment, and so on.
Post implementation, Saint Gobain achieved approximately £12,000 per month in cost savings, following the introduction of a Driver Business Mileage reclaim system.
Every month, approximately 3,000 drivers use the specially tailored system on-line, greatly reducing the administrative burden and saving indirect costs such as postage, stationery, fax/phone and approval.
