CORGI, the Gas inspection body for the UK including Northern Ireland, has chosen Chevin's RoadBASE® software to help run its fleet - thanks to a chance meeting at last February's Fleet News Forum.
CORGI recently launched a search for a new 'ideal' fleet management system after five years attempting to adapt another major software package to its needs. The organisation runs a fleet of approximately 175 vehicles, on four-year / 85,000-mile contracts, and uses Overdrive cards to manage fuel purchasing.
Stephen DeLaunay, Chevin's Implementation Manager explained: "We met Phillippa Caine, Corgi's company secretary at the Forum in Brighton, where we had a 30-minute 'slot' to demonstrate our system. Soon after that we arranged a more comprehensive demonstration of the RoadBASE® system to Phillippa, Barrie Brooks, fleet supervisor, Ros Smith, fleet administrator, and a member of their IT department.
"Their 'old' package was not giving them all the information they needed and as such they were also forced to maintain a number of spreadsheets. They saw how well RoadBASE® would suit their needs for better information storage and reporting, and placed an order very soon after that. We’re currently setting up their system and converting their current data, so when RoadBASE® is installed they can use it immediately without having to enter any history."
Fleet supervisor Barrie Brooks adds: "We have had a system called Tranman for about five years now, which initially suited our needs, but have since discovered that it does not have the capability to store all the data we needed it to, nor does it produce all the reports that are essential for managing our company fleet, in particular the occupational road risk data. "For this reason we began looking for a flexible system that would not only be able to keep individual records of all our company car drivers and cars, but also to help make the administration side of running a modern-day fleet more efficient. "We were also looking for a system that would help improve our fleet management processes and provide us with statistics, spreadsheets and reports, from the details within the system, at the push of a button. What I particularly like about the RoadBASE® system is that we can easily individualise it by adding/subtracting fields on the various screens to suit our needs."
