Dft Road Safety Research Report
The Department for Transport have released an in-depth report on the study of work-related road traffic accidents. The report highlights those that are most at risk:
- all drivers regardless of vehicle type
- male drivers aged between 21-35
- company cars, vans and trucks were more likely to have caused an accident than not
- drivers using their own cars for company business were more likely to cause accidents than those driving for domestic and social reasons
- fatigue and vehicle defects greatly affect accident causes
- safety culture and training greatly improves accident records
