Dft Road Safety Research Report

The Department for Transport have released an in-depth report on the study of work-related road traffic accidents. The report highlights those that are most at risk:

• all drivers regardless of vehicle type
• male drivers aged between 21-35
• company cars, vans and trucks were more likely to have caused an accident than not
• drivers using their own cars for company business were more likely to cause accidents than those driving for domestic and social reasons
• fatigue and vehicle defects greatly affect accident causes
• safety culture and training greatly improves accident records
